How do I clean and care for a leather backpack?
Wipe dust with a dry microfiber cloth. For light marks, use a slightly damp cloth, then dry immediately.
Condition sparingly 2–3 times per year with our Afon Yukon Leather Conditioning Kit; apply a pea-sized amount, work it in evenly, and test on a hidden spot first. Avoid soaps, alcohol wipes, baby wipes, silicone sprays, and heavy oils.
Is "Crazy Horse" leather made from horsehide?
No. This bag is made from full-grain cowhide; “Crazy Horse” refers to the waxed pull-up finish, not the animal.
What’s the total capacity in liters, and what does that fit?
12L max capacity. Practical loadout: 13" laptop or tablet, small notebook, wallet, phone, keys, compact umbrella, small pouch, sunglasses case.
What’s included in the box?

Is it waterproof or water-resistant? What does that mean in real use?
Water-resistant, not waterproof. The waxed finish helps repel light rain/splashes, but soaking and heat-drying can stain or dry the leather. Real use: commute rain is fine if you blot and air-dry; don’t treat it like a dry bag.
What happens if it gets wet, and what’s the correct dry-out process?
Blot/wipe with a soft cloth, don’t store it wet, and air-dry at room temperature. Avoid any heat source (hairdryer/heater/sun).
Will it fit a 13-14 inch laptop? What are the sleeve dimensions and closure type?
Yes. The product page states it fits a 13” MacBook Air / MacBook Pro and similarly sized devices.
What is the lining made of, and how do I clean it?
The interior is fully lined with a durable fabric lining in dark brown. For cleaning, spot-wipe with a slightly damp cloth and let it air-dry.
Does it fit under the seat and count as a personal item?
Very likely, based on size: 9.44" L (11.8" with side pockets) x 12.2" H x 4.3" W. Overpacking changes the footprint; airline rules vary.
What are the exterior pocket use-cases?
Front magnetic pocket: fast-access items (phone, keys). Two side zipper pockets (15 × 15 cm): compact gear (charger, sunglasses, sanitizer, small bottle if slim). Inside also adds organization: main compartment + laptop compartment + open pockets + interior zipper pocket + keychain holder.

IF YOUR YUKON CRAZY HORSE LEATHER BAG GETS WET:
- Simply wipe dry with a soft leather cloth.
- Do not store your bag while wet.
- Wipe off any moisture before storing to prevent mold or mildew.
- After drying bag: Hang to dry or turn bag inside-out.
- Do not use a hairdryer or any type of heat to dry your bag. Applying heat can cause the leather to crack or harden.
FOR SPILLS:
- Wipe spills off with a slightly dampened cloth.
- Do NOT use detergents or cleansers on your Crazy Horse leather bag – this will discolor the leather and can destroy the beauty of the bag.
- If necessary: Use a soft toothbrush to gently scrub away any stains.

- Using a soft dry cloth – rub scratch in a circular motion to redistribute wax coating.
- For a deep scratch - leather wax can be applied to bring the leather back to its previous condition.

TO AVOID STRETCHING THE LEATHER:
- Limit the number of items stored in the bag over long periods.
- Limit storing heavy items for long periods.
- Avoid over-stuffing pockets.
TO KEEP YOUR CRAZY HORSE LEATHER SOFT AND SUPPLE:
- TEST a small patch before coating entire bag. Some products can change the color of the leather.
- Apply a THIN, even layer of leather balm or leather wax to your bag with a soft, clean sponge.
- Wipe off any excess balm (or wax) with a soft, dry, leather cloth.
We strongly recommend periodically treating your Yukon Bag to a coating of leather balm or wax to prevent the leather from becoming dry or cracked.
Caution: Overuse of products designed to keep leather soft can result in too much softening and may result in the bag losing its shape.
STORING YOUR CRAZY HOUSE LEATHER BAG:
- Protect your Yukon bag by storing it in a clean, dry space.
- Wipe away any moisture before storing your bag.
- Be sure the bag is completely DRY before storing it.
- For optimal results in maintaining the bag’s shape – empty bag before storing.
- For long periods of storage, we recommend keeping the bag in a soft cotton pillowcase. This will prevent discoloration from dust or infestation by insects (always check for them after a hike!).
- If you plan for your bag to stay in storage for an extended length of time, inspect it every 3-4 weeks. If you store the bag without emptying it first, check every 1-2 weeks to avoid stretching or mold.

It seems like forever that I’ve been looking for a smaller, lightweight leather backpack for bicycling. The ones I found were more like purses, with no practical features. I was happy to come across the Mini Hess! SO lightweight, but still rugged and beautifully constructed. Love the side pockets, love how it holds all my necessary gear, despite being a compact size. LOVE the magnetized closure. The webbing on the inside of the straps is a brilliant touch because it keeps the bag from slipping off my shoulders. The leather is hardy and has a rich, rugged look. For quite some time now I’ve been searching for the perfect leather backpack. A lot that I’ve seen don’t have ‘the look’ I’ve been looking for. Sturdy and will stand the test of time. This backpack is incredibly made. Extremely roomy with plenty of extra room. The leather is very soft. When I received the bag I immediately rolled the leather around to bring out more of the pull up. After only a couple of weeks it’s showing some beautiful marks and color variations. I was very surprised at the shipping. Especially coming from another country, it arrived super quick. I’m already itching for another bag! 10/10!

Two things: Customers, make sure you understand the true size of this bag. It’s small and their posted measurements are a little misleading, as the overall width includes the two side pockets. The main compartment is smaller than most people would expect, I believe.
Second, Yukon could improve its online store. Some hyperlinks don’t work properly and your TNT tracking system for delivery is absolutely terrible and frustrating. I was a little less excited about my bags arrival after receiving a bunch of utterly useless info from this TNT system. If I was the business owner, I would want to know it’s a bad customer experience. Standard FedEx tracking would be far better.

This is a perfect small bag to pack all your nick nacs if your headed into work or off to a friends. Holds my 13inch MacBook a small yeti water bottle and lots of little items. I’ve attached a pic comparing it to the largest bag they sell. Quality is 110%. They don’t miss any of the details!
