Our leather backpacks are crafted from full-grain cowhide with a crazy horse finish—a waxed finish that brings out the leather’s natural character and develops a distinctive patina with use. We source our leather from LWG Gold-certified tanneries and do not use PU, faux or bonded leather.
Which leather backpack fits a 16-inch laptop?
The Yukon, Frances and Harper Large accommodate a 16-inch MacBook Pro and similarly sized laptops. The Napa Large is designed for 15–16-inch laptops. For a 13-inch laptop, consider the Harper, Hinton, Montana Slim, Napa or Hess Mini.

Do your leather backpacks have padded laptop compartments?
Laptop storage varies by model. The Frances, Harper, Harper Large, Hinton and Montana Slim have padded laptop compartments or sleeves. The Yukon has a dedicated laptop compartment with a snap-closure strap. The Napa and Napa Large have suede-lined interiors with dedicated laptop compartments, while the Hess Mini carries a compatible 13-inch laptop in its main compartment.
For additional protection, particularly in a model without a padded sleeve, use a separate protective laptop case and check that it fits comfortably inside the bag.
Are your leather backpacks suitable for men and women?
Yes. Every model is designed for anyone who appreciates full-grain leather and practical everyday organization. Choose according to your preferred proportions, laptop size and daily essentials.

Can I use a leather backpack as an airline personal item?
It depends on the backpack, your airline and how the bag is packed. Personal-item allowances vary, so compare the bag’s packed external dimensions with your airline’s current requirements before travelling.
For reference, the Hess Mini measures 12.2 × 9.4 × 4.3 inches, and the Frances measures 15.7 × 11 × 4.3 inches. Larger models may exceed some airlines’ under-seat limits. A trolley strap makes airport travel more convenient, but it does not guarantee that a backpack qualifies as a personal item.
Are your leather backpacks waterproof?
Our crazy horse leather backpacks are water-resistant, not waterproof. The waxed finish helps repel light rain and splashes, but prolonged exposure or soaking can allow moisture to penetrate.
If your backpack gets wet, blot it with a soft cloth and let it air-dry naturally, away from radiators, hairdryers and direct heat. Use a rain cover when prolonged or heavy rain is expected.
How do I clean and care for a full-grain leather backpack?
Remove everyday dust with a soft, dry cloth. For light surface marks, use a slightly damp cloth and allow the leather to dry naturally. Avoid machine washing, alcohol wipes and harsh household cleaners.

How should I store my leather backpack?
Empty your backpack and make sure it is completely dry before storing it. Place it in the breathable drawstring dust bag supplied with your order and keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Lightly fill it with clean, unprinted paper to help preserve its shape. Avoid sealed plastic bags, damp cupboards and placing heavy items on top of it.
Why does crazy horse leather develop marks and color variations?
The waxed pull-up finish responds to bending, pressure and handling, creating changes in tone and light surface marks. These are part of the leather’s character and help each backpack develop its own patina.
Many light scuffs soften when gently rubbed with a clean fingertip or soft cloth. Deeper scratches may remain; the leather’s patina develops with use rather than keeping a permanently uniform appearance.
How long can a full-grain leather backpack last?
