Types of Travel Bags

Backpacks

Backpacks are great for day trips. They hold just what you need to be out and about for a day in the woods or around town. They are compact and lightweight enough to be carried just on the shoulders, but for some hiking trips, a hip strap might be used to distribute weight to the legs. Duffle Bags

Duffle bags are larger than a backpack and good for weekend trips or overnight trips. It holds enough for a few days and can be easy to carry over the shoulder or by hand. It should be used for lighter items because it cannot be carried over both shoulders or on the hip. Rolling Suitcases

Rolling suitcases are commonly used for longer trips. If you plan on staying away for a week or more then you need the space of a rolling suitcase. These suitcases are also not carried on the body so they are good for plenty of weight. They aren’t designed for taking along on an outdoor trip but made more for vacationers and travelers that plan on staying indoors with their luggage.

Messenger Bags

Messenger bags are ideal for small items that you want to keep close and have at hand while traveling. Since they are carried on just one shoulder, they are not ideal for heavy items and they don’t carry enough to be worthwhile on hiking or outdoor trips.
